Overall, Ghost Trick is now one of my favorite games of all time and an absolute must play.

The puzzles are easy enough that you never get frustrated, but they don’t let much room for creativity, you very much have to go with the intended solution. Moreover, you have the power to travel back in time 4 minutes before a person’s death, so a lot of the puzzles have you save people’s lives so you can interrogate them about your death. It’s very unique: you can use your ghost powers to manipulate objects and solve puzzles like in an adventure game. The gameplay is another of the game strengths.

Despite the dark premise, the game manages to stay consistently funny with colorful and well written characters, including the best video game dog ever. Over the course of the game, you unfold a mystery full of revelations and plot twists. You play as a recently deceased ghost who lost his memory, and you investigate your own murder with your ghost powers. However, where the game really shines is in its story. Going in, I was expecting a visual novel, but the graphisms and animations are surprisingly great and smooth for a DS game and the soundtrack is full of bangers. The game has an amazing amount of polish and passion put into every single element. I played this game after watching a review by Matthewmatosis, and I am so glad I did.
